Edgar Goes Deep

When the Braves acquired Edgar Renteria in December, the prevailing thought was that he would rebound away from Boston and back in the more familiar National League. Thus maybe it was a good sign that he hit his first Grapefruit League homer against his former Cardinals.
Renteria's three-run homer in the fifth inning off Braden Looper capped a two-hit day that included a fourth-inning double off Jeff Suppan. Before going 2-for-3 against the Cardinals, the veteran shortstop had gone 3-for-14 and not registered an extra-base hit.
"Edgar has been swinging the bat great," Cox said. "He's just like [Brian] McCann. Neither of them have been getting any luck."
While catching all nine innings against the Cardinals, McCann went 1-for-3 to give him just two hits in 13 Grapefruit League at-bats.
