Renteria Ill

Tuesday might have been a fine opportunity for Edgar Renteria to get a day off -- he's 1-for-24 lifetime against Cubs starter Matt Clement. But if it was in doubt before Renteria arrived at the ballpark, the issue was resolved when the shortstop showed up.
Renteria is feeling ill from a stomach bug and was held out of the lineup on Tuesday. It's unclear whether he will be available to start on Wednesday afternoon.
"He's pretty sick today," said head trainer Barry Weinberg.
